Synopsis
Of course equating the Internet phenomenon "blogging" with the profession of journalism would probably have Joseph Pulitzer rolling around in his grave. But there's no denying that the "web log" or "blog" -- as it’s come to be known -- has shaken the foundation of 21st Century information; the way it's delivered and who does it. It truly is today's new frontier that has touched virtually every sector of society, and it's not going away.This week Autoline Detroit takes a closer look at this new information avenue and how it has been embraced by the "Never Too Quick to Change" automotive industry.
Joining John McElroy to discuss the benefits of automotive blogging are representatives from three different sectors of the industry.
From the OEM perspective, Ed Garsten from Chrysler LLC talks about how his company uses this new tool. From traditional media, Scott Burgess of the Detroit News discusses how and why his newspaper -- and others like it — are blogging. Meanwhile, filling the last seat on the panel is one of the new kids on the block -- John Neff from Autoblog.com, one of the largest blogs on the Internet. Mr. Neff talks about the phenomenon itself and how his organization fills a 24-hour information sinkhole with fresh product and pithy insight.
